DESIRE … and resist

MY HISTORY — ORIGINALLY POSTED OCTOBER 9, 2018 ON INSTAGRAM@THEPOINTOFYOU

Is there is something you deeply desire and yet find yourself resisting with all your might?

I was working with a client, yesterday, who has her own business, for which she currently requires herself do work she least wants to do. She’s a deep thinker and a powerful visionary, and more than anything else she wants to write. She has an amazing gift, that she rarely gets to bring, because she sells herself short and over-gives her time implementing marketing strategies for people who nickel and dime her. She’s trying to support herself by doing what she literally hates to do (even though she’s really good at it), to create the opportunity to do what she really wants to do … one day. We’re gently shifting her “resist-stance” by exploring how she could “repackage” her gifts and desires in a way that allows her to “commit to her core magnificence” (her Point of You phrase) and be paid for bringing her greatest joy and value to life, instead.

Another client really wants to "build joy” by bringing mountain bike jumps, tracks and trails to his community (which he loves to do and is experienced and talented at). The only way he saw he could do this was by first writing an e-book and creating an online course (about how to make choices that “build joy” in our lives) that will make him the money he needs to support his family. He’s a good writer, too, but this isn’t REALLY what he wants to be doing now; he just felt like he HAD to. His “resist-stance” subsided when he realized he wasn’t actually walking his own talk. He now sees that he gets to start with what he most wants to do … and THIS will give him a platform and relevant content for a much more inspired and inspiring e-book and online course, based on his experiences actually “building joy.” It is surprisingly common for us to believe that the only way to create what we most desire in life is by doing something else, first … and we’re totally missing the point!

If you can relate, let’s connect and explore new possibility!
