Relevance and New Possibility In Covid-19 Lockdown

Do “YOU" feel RELEVANT these days?
Yes, this question has a double meaning? Does what you *were* doing (before our lives flipped upside down about 8 weeks ago) feel relevant in the same way, today? Or have the external circumstances — completely outside of your control — made what you do feel irrelevant? AND … do “YOU” feel relevant in your own life and work these days, or do you feel like life/work is suddenly running you (even more than before) or even that you “have to” give away for free what you used to get paid to do?
In this video I speak to something that is near and dear to my heart and differentiates how I approach designing businesses and lives we love, that make a difference … AND love us back. I share a current client story in the context of 2 related questions, that I first asked when I taught a strategic marketing class for emerging local fashion designers:
1) Does the world REALLY need ANOTHER “dress” (enter your product/service here)? Even when we are not living through a global pandemic, the answer for most us is NO. So, then, why are you here? (There IS a better reason!)
2) What is marketing? It’s not *just* promotion. It’s defined by effectively integrating the 4 P’s: Product, Price, Place AND Promotion. Why are THESE the 4 P’s? (There IS a good reason, that is very RELEVANT, especially these days!).
The PAIN POINT I see every day, is that we all tend to focus on and attach to WHAT we do … aka “Product” rather than focusing on the POSSIBILITY we want to bring to the world, regardless of the “platform” (aka product) we choose.
