Remembering 2020 — Co-Conspiring to Create REViVE

ORIGINALLY POSTED ON FB BY REViVE HOPE FOR HEALTH FOUNDATION AUGUST - OCTOBER 2020.

In 2019, I became a volunteer Board Advisor for the Brian Phelps Memorial Foundation (a non-profit started by a client in honor of her late husband), providing strategic marketing and communications design support. In 2020, I inspired and guided the re-naming and rebranding process and designed the new logo.

What follows is the campaign I designed for REViVE (in collaboration with the Board President) to launch their new brand and their second annual fundraising event … a unique creative challenge during the first year of Covid-19.

AUGUST 9, 2020

The Brian Phelps Memorial Foundation is excited to announce and launch our new official name and visual branding!

Brian Phelps always stood for faith, family, friends and love. His life, lived with a strong desire to help and serve others, is the inspiration for this non-profit organization, and for its new branding, in his honor.

REViVE Hope for Health is dedicated to connecting people in ways that allow us to learn from each and be empowered to thrive in health — together.

We hope you are inspired by our new name and branding, refined vision and mission, and 2020-2021 objectives (see graphic).

Stay tuned for an invitation to participate in our first Virtual Mindful Triathlon (5k + yoga + meditation) — this Fall 2020! — which will support the expansion of our website, to build community by sharing personal stories of health transformation, that inspire and REViVE Hope for Health for those seeking better options to unresolved health issues.

In the meantime, we invite you to …
- Share our mission with your friends and social media networks.
- Visit our website to join our mailing list.
- Connect with us if you’re interested in being a strategic partner, to help us spread the word.
- Reach out to us if you have a health transformation story you’d like to share to help others.

And please stay tuned for information, personal stories and resources that empower us all to REViVE Hope for Health!

SEPTEMBER 14, 2020

There are moments in our lives that change our direction and inspire us to create a resource for others that we wish we'd had on our own journey.

REViVE Hope for Health was originally founded as the Brian Phelps Memorial Foundation, by Michelle Phelps, to honor her husband, a very special individual who was dedicated to helping others and believed deeply in faith, family, friends, and love.

The mission of REViVE Hope for Health is to raise awareness, improve access, and advocate for personal empowerment in HEALTH.

In Michelle’s own words:

"When we were faced with a life-threatening brain tumor diagnosis and given very little hope by doctors, we discovered the power of integrative medicine. This 'root cause,’ patient centered approach to medicine led to a miraculous recovery and a path back to optimal health. It also created a paradigm shift in our views of healthcare and wellness. The discovery of this type of approach was found by luck and was not recommended by any of the medical teams that we were working with at the time, because they were not aware of the benefits. During our journey, we continued to discover the power of other approaches, that also focused on this patient centered approach to medicine and looking at the whole person and the interconnectedness of the body, mind and soul. We learned that the body is always trying to send us signals, but most of us do not know how to listen and interpret these signals. Eastern (Chinese) medicine, integrative medicine, and other methods look for those signals and seek out the root cause to our symptoms.

“Unfortunately, we were faced with a separate health challenge years later, that we could not overcome. At that time, I knew that a resource needed to be created to share the information that both of us had been sharing with others.

When I shared what we had learned about the root cause approach and recommended our integrative team to one of my team members at work, I realized the impact of sharing the information we have learned on our journey could have on others.  After realizing sharing of this information was so transformational that it had also saved the life of a friend and team member, it became clear what we needed to create.

When I recognized the positive impact that the root cause and integrative approach had for us, and then saw by sharing this information the life-saving impact it had on someone else, I realized I could not-not create a resource for others.

It was an honor that friend and team member, Courtney Stultz agree to join the founding board and to share her story to inspire others.

There are so many opportunities to transform the lives of others by sharing this information and connecting resources, to inspire collaboration in health care.”

The most valuable lesson learned:

“Listen to what your body is trying to tell you and seek out the professionals who can help you listen deeper and interpret those messages. Choose members of your health care-team that will empower you to discover possibilities to thrive in health."

SEPTEMBER 16, 2020

"Our journeys in life may be complicated, but they can also be used to help someone get through their own journey."

We are proud to have Courtney Stultz on our board at REViVE Hope for Health and honored to be able to share her story as part of our mission. Courtney is the owner of LPHJ Kitchen.

Courtney’s story in her words:

“After suffering with health issues for many years, I was gifted information that helped turn my life around when everyone else had given up on me. When I met the team of Integrative Medicine at a hospital two hours away, I knew immediately that I had found the best providers I had ever seen before. I went from suffering with debilitating health issues daily and living with a poor quality of life to the best health of my life in just a couple of years. Integrative medicine not only saved my life but it also helped teach me so much about my own body and what I need to do to give it the best chance for thriving. My medical team helped me physically, but they helped me in so many other ways. I was able to really focus on healing in many forms and realized that my journey had a purpose. Now, I feel so much better, which helps me be a better mother and wife plus I've opened up a specialty bakery, designed to help those with similar food allergies and sensitivities.”

Courtney became a part of the REViVE mission because:  “When I had the opportunity to be a part of REVIVE, I knew that I had to help their mission. Being able to help give someone hope that they can feel better is an incredibly important part of my journey. If it wasn't for someone sharing simple information about Integrative Medicine, who knows what my life would have been like. I do know that I'm forever grateful for what Integrative Medicine has done for myself and my family and the healthcare providers that use it.

Being able to help others in the journey can make our own sufferings much easier to handle."

The mission of REViVE Hope for Health is to raise awareness, improve access, and advocate for personal empowerment in HEALTH.

OCTOBER 2, 2020

“It is so amazing to see how using functional medicine and chiropractic care helps my patients every day to improve their health and live a better life. It still blows me away.”

We are proud to have Dr. Sabra Coop on our board at REViVE Hope for Health and honored to be able to share her story as part of our mission. Sabra is the owner of Renew Chiropractic.

Sabra’s story in her words:

“I first discovered integrative medicine at a young age, when I had a goiter (thyroid enlargement) and thyroid symptoms at only 12 yrs old. Instead of going the traditional route, my doctor had me do more natural treatments. Very soon my goiter was gone, and I stopped having any thyroid issues. Many events led me to pursuing my doctorate as a chiropractor, and I soon found a passion for functional medicine within my field of practice. While in grad school my thyroid symptoms redeveloped, and again I sought natural treatment options. At my one year ultrasound check up, the concerning nodules had completely diminished in size and I had no more thyroid symptoms.”

Sabra became a part of the REViVE mission because:  "I believe wholeheartedly in REViVE’s mission because it is everything I strive to do for my patients and my practice. Integrative medicine has made a huge impact on my life and loved ones. I always want to help raise awareness, improve access, and advocate for personal empowerment in health. This is why I’m on the REViVE board and why I became a chiropractor and functional medicine specialist. "

"I have seen firsthand what integrative medicine can do for my health, family, and others. It is why I chose to become a Doctor, so I could help others." - Dr Sabra Coop

The mission of REViVE Hope for Health is to raise awareness, improve access, and advocate for personal empowerment in HEALTH.

OCTOBER 14, 2020

“Help people heal from the inside out.”

We are proud to have Dr. Holly Battrum on our board at REViVE Hope for Health and honored to be able to share her story as part of our mission. Holly is a doctor of Chinese medicine based in Kansas City specializing in fertility, oncology, neurology and emotional disorders. Holly practices at Elements Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

Holly’s story in her words:

“At a young age I had the opportunity to use eastern medicine to help me by treating some lung concerns I was having in order to help me achieve my goals as a young athlete. Fast forward to many years later I was broached with a beautiful decision of how I could most impact my community and help people heal from the inside out. Eastern medicine once again became such a clear path for me to study so that my community could have integrative choices in their health and healing. Being an Eastern Medicine doctor has not only allowed me to have a positive impact on my community, I am able to use my tools to be a partner in my patient’s health so they can be a positive influence on their community.”

Holly became part of the REViVE mission because:  "My hope is that health care providers and patients can be inspired to be partners in health. I believe that education and access to care is a first step in creating this partnership.”

“As an Eastern Medicine doctor, I am able to use my tools to be a partner in my patient’s health so they can be a positive influence on their community.” - Dr Holly Battrum

OCTOBER 23, 2020

“We didn’t know where to look for other resources.”

We are proud to have Michael Moore on our board at REViVE Hope for Health and honored to be able to share his story as part of our mission. Michael is based in Kansas City and serves as Chief Financial Officer at eHawk Solution, Managing Member of KPMC Solutions, and President of Double M Becker Ranch.

Michael’s story in his words:

“When my brother was fighting cancer we had a great medical team helping him with treatments. But as we progressed and couldn’t find anything to stop the cancer’s progression our knowledge ran out and our frustration began. Not having a focal point to identify people that might help beyond traditional cancer treatments was a hurdle we weren’t ready or able to face. Although there are other paths available to provide healing and hope it was not easy for us to locate those resources. As a result, my hope is that REViVE provides that resource, enabling those at the end of hope a path towards assistance and resources they desperately need.”

Michael became part of the REViVE mission because: “My hope is that REViVE provides a resource that enables those at the end of hope a path towards assistance and resources they desperately need.”

SEPTEMBER 8, 2020

We are excited to have our Board Secretary Holly Battrum, L.Ac., DACM leading the meditation practice on Saturday, September 26.  Mindfulness practice is a key recommendation for all of her patients to help her patients take back control of their health and relearn to trust themselves.

Holly is a doctor of Chinese medicine based in Kansas City specializing in fertility, oncology, neurology and emotional disorders. Holly practices at Elements Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. After healing others from the outside in for seven years through theatre and costume design and team leadership, she took a leap in life to commit herself to combine her love for art and science to help patients heal through acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Seeing the results from treating patients with Traditional Chinese Medicine and listening to her patients’ stories is what drives Holly to continue to learn and grow as a practitioner. Educating patients and healthcare providers on the possibilities of thriving through serious disappointment and illness is where you will find Holly outside of clinical practice, lecturing locally and beyond. Holly’s belief is “all you have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given to you” and she is looking forward to leading this self empowerment practice.

Holly became a part of the REViVE mission because her hope is that health care providers and patients can be inspired to be partners in health. She believes that education and access to care is a first step in creating this partnership.
