Rei Latri: Choose My Self, First
MY HISTORY — ORIGINALLY POSTED JUNE 23, 2022 ON INSTAGRAM@THEPOINTOFYOU
In this beYOUtiful, unexpected, video, Rei shares the way she used our work, and this situation (see story below), to guide her own deep healing work.
Rei and I met Sep 30, 2021. We did her Point of You session 3 days later, 13 days before her wedding day. When we uncovered her Point of You phrase — Choose Your (My) Self, First — this timing made perfect sense. I choose me, and then I choose you. Sovereignty. Then, sovereign relationship.
When we first met, Rei had just resigned from a job and was feeling like she “had" to do her own thing now. She is a (r)EVOLutionary. She sees what isn’t working and embodies the freedom and wisdom to overturn it. In healthy environments, this a gift. In unhealthy environments, it can be a threat.
A (r)EVOLutionary disrupts a dysfunctional status quo in order to evolve. The status quo is often defined by a tight knot of co-dependency, so the one who unties the knot, is often shamed or even punished for being the problem.
Rei has experienced this many times, going way back to childhood trauma. She learned that, to survive, she “had" to keeping trying harder to be “good," to not be abandoned.
Rei overcame her resist-stance, and saw that “going it alone” was not the solution. Stating what she stands for, and being hired for THAT, was a better choice.
Soon, she was hired into a role that allowed her to do her lifework, in mind-blowing and more fulfilling ways.
Then, she bumped into the same old patten … being reprimanded for taking initiative and creatively resolving urgent problems that the owner was not addressing. This time, although it threw her off a bit, it didn’t take her out.
Rei used the circumstances to do her own healing work and saw that she was already ready for her next step up. When she put her Self out there, in her power, the opportunity appeared, and she chose it for her Self.
Giving notice disrupted another co-dependency. She was asked to jeopardize her professional integrity to “rescue” her boss, who made the resulting breakdown Rei’s fault, if she didn’t. Rei embodied her freedom to choose her Self first, and said, “No.” KUDOS Rei!
