WDS - World Domination Summit 2018 INSPIRATION

MY HISTORY — ORIGINALLY POSTED AUGUST 15 & 29, 2018 ON INSTAGRAM@THEPOINTOFYOU

POSTED AUGUST 15, 2018: It’s only taken me 6 weeks to post pics from the 2018 World Domination Summit. This event is a coming together of people from all over the world who are intentionally choosing to “live a remarkable life in a conventional world.” And it turned out to be a powerful coming-out-of-hiding experience for me.

As I prepared to go to the opening party Friday night, I felt my typical feelings of “going by myself (again) and feeling like a total outsider.” Walking down NW 18th Ave toward Providence Park, in my trying-to-look-like-80s-activewear-outfit, I felt a bit ridiculous. At the stoplight on E Burnside, up walked a couple dressed in their own 80s-activewear-ish clothing, with WDS name tag lanyards around their necks, too, and we instantly connected. More joined us on the way to the stadium, and by the time we got inside I already had met more than a dozen people.

While there were all kinds of crazy-fun-get-to-know-each-other-games-to-be-played, I chose to hangout on the sidelines ...yes, an unfortunate metaphor for how I unknowingly have chosen to live a lot of my life. In hindsight, I see that I wasn’t able (yet) to push through a lifetime’s worth of built up “resist-stance” beliefs, that said I shouldn’t take away opportunities for other people to play by playing myself. More ridiculous than my outfit, I know, but it prevented me (this LAST time, I hope!) from allowing myself to join in.
Over the course of the weekend, I met so many inspired and inspiring people, who accepted me into their tribe instantly. I got to hear speakers who live rEVOLutionary lives, who model and share the possibilities they stand for.  And I made connections and friends with people whom I’ve already hung out with in Portland and/or am following on social media and am excited to reconnect with next year.
By the closing party, I belonged. Although I went by myself and didn’t have anything “flowery” to wear, I walked in with confidence, met and talked and danced with more new friends, and left with the resolve to let myself be in the game ... from now on.
YES!

POSTED AUGUST 29, 2018: After WDS2018, I created these graphic summaries of my personal takeaways from each talk to share with clients. I just looked through them again, and there are so many thought provoking reminders, I figured I’d share them here, too. Flip through and be inspired!
