Submitting My Idea Worth Spreading for TEDxPDX
MY HISTORY — ORIGINALLY POSTED APRIL 2, 2018 ON INSTAGRAM@THEPOINTOFYOU
I did it! Yesterday, on Easter Sunday and April Fools Day, I submitted my “Idea Worth Spreading...in 90 seconds or less” at the TEDx Portland idea booth (see 2nd pic for script). Those of you who know me, know how big this step is for me. If you don’t ... for the past 7 years I’ve been coming back from almost losing my life due to anorexia ... the source of which was a deep self-defeating belief that the only way for me to survive was to make myself smaller and smaller, so I couldn’t hurt anyone. Since then I’ve been learning to give and allow myself “nourishment” and to “bring my love to life.” The point of submitting my idea, first and foremost, was allowing myself and the possibility I stand for to be seen. To “get over my self(denial)” and be willing show up with the love I have to bring to make a difference in the world. First big step in this direction now taken. It was both exciting and terrifying, and I survived it! The journey continues.
